Dana Howerton Smith has been a real estate agent for over 13 years, with family roots in timber, farming, cattle, and land subdivision spanning over a lifetime.She grew up here in Halifax County, leaving for college, only to return to what she loved. Dana has always been known as a hard worker to everyone beginning as a young girl” handing leaves” on the family’s tobacco farm. She loves people and animals unlike many will ever. She can drive a tractor, she can drive a nail!

Dana’s personal hobbies include country cooking, gardening, photography, cosmetology, and singing. If there is a “toon” nearby in the air, especially bluegrass music, chances are she is there, and you might even catch her singing! Dana is married to Tyler Smith, who is a maintenance technician at J.M Huber Corp. Where they manufacture high-grade wood and flooring for homes, etc. They live out in the country on their hobby farm and raise goats, donkeys, minis, rabbits, doves, pigeons, pigs, ducks, even the occasional emu will run by!The family is passionate about four wheeling, fishing, and camping. “We are a God, guns, and glory style of family” is how Dana describes them as a unit. Here for each other, here for all, thankful for what we do have because we worked hard to earn it!” Dana’s 13-year-old son, is Stevey Raey, an 8th-grade honors student at HCMS. He LOVES video games and modern technology.He is the young “go to tech guy” that keeps mom’s internet,pc, and all other devices going. He, like mother, loves going in to see the many homes for sale, especially those near us on Kerr Lake.Dana still predicts he will be her house flipping partner in the future.

Dana wears her heart on her sleeve and loves this business. She has an eye for what properties need to make them sell, and she will bend over backward to make it happen. Be sure and ask her about the squirrel in the attic story! She has personally landscaped, hauled off debris, painted, mulched, decorated, staged and hosted open houses so her seller and buyer were both pleased. There are many client references about customer satisfaction and praises of her work to see.Dana also has intuition as to where to advertise properties so that the listings are best showcased to potential buyers.She uses many websites, newspapers, and even magazines to showcase properties in the best way suited!
