Sam purchased the company from the founder, Jimmy Shelton in 1991. Sam worked under Mr. Shelton for about 10 years prior, learning first hand, all aspects of the real estate trade. J.W. Shelton Auction & Realty has been in operation since 1955 & is very well known in the community. Sam donates his time & auctioneering skills to various community organizations & events, such as the Halifax County Junior Livestock Show & Sale, Ducks Unlimited, many church, school, and benefit events. If he is not offering his services as an auctioneer, he may be playing bluegrass at local community events, since he plays mandolin, guitar, fiddle, & sometimes banjo & does a great job singing the auctioneer song. Since horses & the farm are a great love, he does specialize in selling farms, whether it is 5 acres or 500 acres.
